We all want to feel good about ourselves have high self esteem however at times We all feel lack of confidence at some days at some point in our lives. It might be because we were challenged to a task or maybe we were feeling low or because we failed at something. However self esteem or lack of self esteem is understood by gradual developing negative thought process or self doubt that we have about ourselves overall.

Low self esteem can affect all aspects of our life it can be our perception about ourself it can be any new task it can be our relationships it can be a job our school our health even and a lot more aspects.

1. Take Care of Yourself :

Overall taking care of yourself boosts our self esteem or the way we think about ourselves. following a routine throughout the day helps in managing tasks managing our time and makes us feel good about ourselves.

Exercise, healthy diet, good sleep etc could be included in our daily routine. Also doing things that you enjoy is a good way to care for yourself. Try to have a source of positivity, surround yourself with positive people, read good books etc.

2. Detach From Your Thoughts:

unhealthy and negative thoughts like I can’t do this, I don’t think I will be able to complete the task in time, I’m generally a late riser, I get angry very quickly, I’m short tempered etc hamper our self-esteem. When our thoughts are running in our minds it’s mostly very fast for us to see what we are actually thinking or what the quality of the thoughts are.

To detach ourselves from our thoughts or to see what we are actually thinking we need to take a step back and observe them. it helps to write them down.

3.Challenge and Change Your Negative Thoughts About Yourself:

The negative thought pattern that we have about ourselves can be challenged and changed when we detach from them and see them. Generally, when we don’t have a clear idea about who we are or the way we think about ourselves, we accept the negative pattern of thoughts that we keep thinking about ourselves. And these negative patterns of thoughts go unchallenged and easily accepted in our minds.

What we can do is challenge these thoughts and change them to the thoughts that we would like them to be for example a negative thought can be I’m useless, this is clearly an unhealthy thought about ourselves and just ask yourself how can I change this sentence and make it a little healthier we can replace I’m useless with I’m afraid but I can still do it or to move positive version like I know I can do it if I try etc. Use constructive and hopeful statements, forgive yourself, focus on the positive and encourage yourself.

4. Accept Yourself:

Self esteem is mostly the belief that we have about ourselves. Beliefs are made by the repetitive thoughts that we keep thinking about ourselves on multiple occasions through different experiences.

So, the more we accept ourselves, see what you have learned from different situations, accept our mistakes, accept our flaws and try to improve them gradually. This will help us overall improve our self confidence and the way we look at ourselves.

5. Set Goals:

Setting goals helps in increasing our self confidence. Set possible and realistic goals that can be achieved in short term. We generally set goals that are mostly unrealistic or very difficult and we cannot complete them and we give up very easily and then we create a negative thought pattern about ourselves that we are of no good we are useless etc.

So, try setting goals that are realistic achievable and small. And every time we achieve a goal appreciate yourself, every time we cannot achieve a goal accept ourselves that okay, we can do it again we can try another time and we will be able to reach the goal.

When we can identify our thought patterns and identify that our thoughts are keeping us from having a high self esteem it can be easily mended and improve our self confidence.
